can we start a triceratops band. i call drums. no codpieces.

Ryan Downey said...

i will play a tambourine

Ian Davisson said...

i can play the trumpet. but i don't have one. or any other instrument like the trombone or the tuba. ha. that is all.

or i can be the vocalist.
i can be a more experimental vocalist.

that was fun on friday.

ryan you should have told the story about firing off some sort of wd 40 flamethrower in Nathans backyard and catching a huge tree trunk on fire.

that wasn't sad.

ha, i feel sort of good and sort of bad at the same time.

Triceratops.

i feel more good than bad.

thank god. Amazon has finally begun to ship my Lyn Hejinian book. thankfully it only took them 7 months.

Ian Davisson said...

hey, I just got some stuff in elimae.

i would announce it on my blog, but no one actually reads my blog. ha.

check out parts two and three of triple dream.

good job ian.

triceratops.

i am submitting things again, i stopped for awhile.

keep sending work.

Ryan Downey said...

i was going to submit there but saw no indicator of response time.

if you don't mind me asking how long was the response time?

Ian Davisson said...

1 day

Ian Davisson said...

which was kick ass

Ryan Downey said...

my helpful link on here also says one day.

sweet.

ian, will you be mad at me if i also submit something to elimae.

i like one day turnarounds.

it makes rejection more efficient.

Ryan Downey said...

i did not wait for ians response.

i sent something.

it will be good if we have a triceratops monopoly on literary magazines.

i never like my odds though.

Ian Davisson said...

that sounds like a good idea. i would be happy if we were all in the same publication. i only submitted there because they have a one day turnaround.

Ian Davisson said...

i had never heard of elimae before that list.

Ryan Downey said...

rejection from elimae:

Hi. Thanks for your interest in "elimae". Your poems are accomplished, and you will find a
home for them easily, I think. They aren't really right for us. Though your work and the work
we generally use both inhabit the avant-garde, your point of departure is, I think, closer to the
Beats than we are. Best wishes!

i feel ok with this.

Ryan Downey said...

our work is more similar to each others perhaps than to ians and therefore these rejections make sense to me. i mean really he could have just sent a really impersonal from letter. i have gotten many of those. keep plugging away and you will find a home, or many homes.

it is the wrong venue.

it reads differently than much of my work.

i very much like the work in it though.

refer to the giant list in the link copy paste submit. eat food. sleep.

the sort of stuff they accepted from me isn't much like the stuff on triceratops. I would say go to my blog and read triple dream. That is what they wanted. And a Liz Woodward.
